The BCSSS Trustees met Chris McDonald MP, the Minister of Industry, along with members and local MPs in Durham on 18 December to celebrate the return of the investment reserve.
The Trustees were represented by Alastair Hadfield, Bleddyn Hancock, David Griffiths, John Owen and Mike Adie.
The Trustees are now looking forward to meeting Minister McDonald again on 18 February to discuss how any future surplus in the Scheme is shared. At the meeting, the Trustees will ask the Minister to work with them to change the Scheme rules as quickly as possible, so that the Trustees can use 100% of any future surplus to enhance members’ benefits, rather than it being locked up in the Scheme.
We will update members on the outcome of the February meeting as soon as possible.
